The many shades of humanity

Time for some weekend inspiration! We love stories about empowerment and people who are making a difference to the world, and this is a perfect example.

iO Tillett Wright’s TED talk about the many varying shades of humanity and how alike—and yet different—we are is truly uplifting. She’s working on a fantastic project with the help of the Human Rights Campaign to improve visibility of people who identify as “anything other than 100% straight.”

iO’s talk isn’t just about her project, though. She talks about her childhood and experiments with gender, as well as simple truths about the lack of equality in America.

It’s absolutely worth watching, and has relevance well outside the borders of the USA.
