Existing month to month, February 2015

I'm slowly catching up again. Here's February's report, only a month late.

Product development

This month saw us continue to split our time between the mobile apps and our "main jobs" — the web app for me, marketing for Belle. She continued to refine the iOS app, and I fixed some Android issues with older versions and layout.

Web-wise, we changed the layout of the Averages page and started working on a new Trends page that will serve as a kind of overview for everything under the Data tab.

Lots of work this month went into our experiment, Littlelogs, a place to share progress on your creative work. Within February this went from nothing, to a simple timeline of logs, to a full social interface with "likes", comments, and notifications.

Marketing

Belle was quite busy in this area this month and published two blog posts (excluding links roundups) for Exist:

She also appeared on the Biz Chix podcast to talk about Exist, and published a guest post on the RescueTime blog about finding work/life balance with Exist and RescueTime.

Other business stuff

In February we decided to record a Hello Code podcast on a whim. The first episode was called In the bucket, about the concept of using Hello Code as an umbrella for the many little projects we take on and whose profits we both share. This received a positive response, so we decided to keep up the podcast with a fortnightly release schedule. Episode two also appeared in Feb, called The grind.

Belle also turned her previous email-list experiment for weekly habit tracking, Exist Club, into a new Slack group.

How'd we do?

Progress on Exist itself was slow this month, but the decision to jump into building the Trends page was a good one, as we shall see. We're both excited about the potential of Littlelogs as well, so time spent there isn't time wasted.
